Business formation and dynamics
These charts show many measures of business dynamics---in the pandemic/post-pandemic period and in prior decades---in various datasets: BLS Business Employment Dynamics (BED) and Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW), and Census Bureau Business Formation Statistics (BFS) and Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS). Most of these charts are updated from Decker and Haltiwanger (2024 BPEA) and related work. Most of these are multi-page PDF files.

Business register comparisons
These charts compare the business register maintained by the U.S. Census Bureau, which is available in the County Business Patterns (CBP) and Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) products; with that of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is available in the Quarter Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) and Business Employment Dynamics (BED) products. Most of these are multi-page PDF files.
